The Baltimore Ravens are ranked fifth in the league in a recent NFL Power Rankings by Fanspeak.com. After seeing a few of the teams ranked above them, this spot may not be good enough for many of the team's fans. Baltimore defeated two of the four teams ranked higher than them, the Denver Broncos (#3) and San Francisco 49ers (#1).
Ironically, they beat these two teams in the post season, in a span of three games. The Ravens upset the Broncos in double-overtime of the Divisional Round of the playoffs after coming into the game as almost a double-digit underdog. They were at least a field goal underdog to the Niners in Super Bowl XLVII, but jumped out to a huge lead right after halftime but held on in what will go down in Super Bowl history as one of the best goal-line stands with the game on the line in the final moments.
The Seattle Seahawks hold down the #2 ranking despite not advancing to even the NFC Championship Game last year and the Green Bay Packers did the same thing last year but still got the #4 ranking, also ahead of the Ravens.
Typically, the Ravens continue to get no respect for their recent accomplishments, especially considering no other team in the entire league has made the playoffs in each of the last five seasons. However, don't fret, Ravens fans, as this neglect of respect is part of the motivation this team has had in the past and continues to drive the Ravens to make all the so-called experts eat their words as they did last year and plan on doing again in 2013 and beyond.
