2013 NFL Mock Draft

Finally, things are starting to become a bit more clear with this Thursday's draft.

Matthew Emmons-USA TODAY Sports

Christmas in April is almost upon us this coming weekend. And with the Ravens having the most picks in the AFC (12) of course look for Ozzie to cash in on some great players and future stars. For now, here is a quick 1st round mock to give some people a sense of what we might see come Thursday night.

Couple notes

  • No trades in this mock, and there will be well over 10 trades throughout the 1st round in my opinion. But for now, we keep it simple
  • These picks are based mainly off my board that I have created. A few of them are reaches in my opinion (for example Cordarrelle Patterson) but some teams will definitely take on need.

1 – KC: Luke Joeckel, OT, Texas A&M
No brainer pick here. He is the top prospect, good at everything.
2 – JAX: Sharrif Floyd, DT, Florida
JAX might prefer to build up their edge rush, but Floyd is far too dominant to pass up. He could show some resemblence to Warren Sapp if he lives up to the hype.
3 – OAK: Dion Jordan, DE, Oregon
This team needs help everywhere, but Jordan has far too much potential to pass up.
4 – PHI: Star Lotulelei, DT, Utah
Putting Star next to Fletcher Cox would be a dominant duo for years.
5 – DET: Eric Fisher, OT, Central Michigan
They have to start making sure they take care Matt Glassford, or else that shoulder is going to fall off. A notch behind Joeckel, still dominant.
6 – CLE: Ezekiel Ansah, DE, BYU
Raw talent, but won’t find a better athlete in this draft.
7 – ARI: Sheldon Richardson, DT, Missouri
I think ARI will try to move out of this spot, but Richardson helps them secure an already underrated D-Line.
8 – BUF: Ryan Nassib, QB, Syracuse
This is starting to become clear. Former player of the new head coach. Good QB. Fits.
9 – NYJ: Jarvis Jones, OLB, Georgia
This guy is a beast, plain and simple. Could be the next Suggs as far as dropping in the draft due to poor "combine" measureables
10 – TEN: Barkevious Mingo, OLB, LSU
Derrick Morgan didn’t pan out too well, they need help in pass rush.
11 – SD: Lane Johnson, OT, Oklahoma
They have literally done nothing to help Rivers since LT, Jackson left and Gates winding down. Gotta start now or else he will fall off quickly.
12 – MIA: Dee Milliner, CB, Alabama
DJ Hayden could also be an option here, as I think he is just as talented as Milliner, but Milliner did it on the biggest stage.
13 – NYJ: Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama
I think NYJ will trade out of this pick and get Warmack a little later, but he fits them far too well to pass up.
14 – CAR: Tavon Austin, WR, West Virginia
Big time weapon for the electrifying Cam Newton
15 – NO: Cornellius Carradine, DE, Florida State
If not for an ACL injury, might have been the 1st pass rusher taken. Supreme talent.
16 – STL: Jonathan Cooper, OG, North Carolina
Good, safe pick to start off w major reloading draft for them.
17 – PIT: Tyler Eifert, TE, Notre Dame
Incredible blocking skills. Incredible pass catching skills. Fits the Steeler mold.
18 – DAL: D.J. Fluker, OT, Alabama
Cowboys fans blame all their Romo struggles on the O-Line. This won’t help too much, cause Romo sucks. But we will see.
19 – NYG: D.J. Hayden, CB, Houston Cougars
Too good to pass up here. Need help on OL, but nothing left at this time.
20 – CHI: Kenny Vaccaro, SS, Texas
Solid player to put inbetween their 2 stud CB’s in Jennings and Tillman.
21 – CIN: Jonathan Cyprien, SS, Florida International
He is shooting up draft boards supposedly. Cinci needs help at S.
22 – STL: Bjoern Werner, DE, Florida State
Their division all of a sudden has 3 quality QB’s in it. Adding Werner alongside Long and Quinn to go with their already solid secondary would help.
23 – MIN: Manti Te’o, ILB, Notre Dame
1 bad game against an insane O-Line does not cover up 4 years of pure domination.
24 – IND: Johnathan Hankins, DT, Ohio State
Pagano type of player, fits their defense well.
25 – MIN: Desmond Trufant, CB, Washington
Lost Winfield and play in a division where you need good coverage.
26 – GB: Johnathan Franklin, RB, UCLA
Surprise! Better all around than Lacey athetically with insane #’s to back it up.
27 – HOU: Cordarrelle Patterson, WR, Tennessee
Not sure if he will go 1st round, but Houston has wanted a solid WR opposite Andre for a while
28 – DEN: Damontre Moore, DE, Texas A&M
Team without alot of needs, only helps their already stout defense.
29 – NE: Xavier Rhodes, CB, Florida State
Not a ton of needs for this team. Good player to plug in there for them.
30 – ATL: Justin Pugh, OT, Syracuse
Great choice here because he can play Guard or Tackle. With the release of Tyson Clabo, Pugh could step in right away at RT.
31 – SF: Matt Elam, SS, Florida
Elam can step in right away to an already hard hitting defense and be a serious enforcer in the back end.
32 – BAL: Arthur Brown, ILB, Kansas State
Fits a need, great player. Exactly what Baltimore is looking for.
