There was never any question about the talent of LSU CB Tyrann Mathieu, a 2011 Heisman Trophy finalist who now has his sights set on the NFL. The questions surrounding Mathieu were of a personal nature, the Honey Badger was dismissed from the LSU football program in 2012 due to a number of failed drug tests and was later arrested for possession of marijuana. According to NFL.com's Albert Breer, however, Mathieu did indeed pass the drug test that was issued to players at February's Scouting Combine. Finally, there is a glimpse of good news surrounding this troubled Tiger. Mathieu has spent a great deal of the pre-draft interview process addressing his drug problem and has preached that he has indeed cleaned his act up and is focused on football 100%. While one passed drug test isn't entirely exonerate him from the myriad of issues that LSU had to deal with during his time there, it does seem that Mathieu is indeed backing up his words and taking steps in the right direction. Teams around the league should surely take notice of this, while still evaluating him with some caution.
