Anquan Boldin About To Test Free Agent Market

The Ravens star wide receiver is due $6 million in salary for 2013 but the cap hit would be over $7 million, neither which the team can afford.

USA TODAY Sports

According to a developing story over at BaltimoreRavens.com, wide receiver Anquan Boldin has turned down the offer to re-structure his current contract that still has one more year left on it. This means that unless the Baltimore Ravens and Boldin can work out a mutual deal, the team will probably release him, making him an unrestricted free agent, eligible to sign with any other NFL team.

Boldin was QB Joe Flacco's go-to receiver during the playoffs and a major part of the reason the team held on to win Super Bowl XLVII over the San Francisco 49ers. A touchdown catch early combined with an incredible grab of a Flacco pass on third-and-inches with seven minutes remaining in the game bookended a great game to cap off a monster post season.

The team and Boldin would love to work out a deal, as Boldin has said he would rather retire than play for any other team in the league. While he may move on to play for one of the other 31 teams, it's obvious where his heart is and if the Ravens can satisfy his pockets along with his heart, then he will finish his career in Baltimore. If not, he will a solid addition to any other NFL team that lures him with the bigger payday.
