Cary Williams Signs With The Eagles

USA TODAY Sports

After turning down a contract-extension at the beginning of the year in an effort to prove his worth, Cary Williams ended up playing all of 2012 on the last year of his contract. During this period of time he was a crucial piece in the Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl run and served as a solid defender (collecting 75 tackles and defending 17 passes).

The problem that Williams ran into with the Ravens is that he is #3 CB wanting to be paid like a #1 CB, and seeing as how the Ravens are looking to save money this off-season, Ozzie Newsome was simply not about to pay that kind of money.

So on Thursday Cary Williams inked a 3-year, $17 million deal with the Philadelphia Eagles guaranteeing him at least $10 million. Not too shabby, kid, not too shabby. I wish Williams the best of luck with the Eagles next year and hope he prospers!
