Baltimore Ravens QB had a fantasy post season, culminating in a Super Bowl championship earlier this month. Although he reportedly turned down a lucrative contract last summer, he is expected to earn a much bigger payday by the time he finally settles on a new deal.
That is expected to be a new contract with the Baltimore Ravens and not any other NFL team. If the team and Joe cannot reach agreement on a long term deal, then he surely will be given the Franchise Tag rather than let him test the free agent open market.
At the very least, he will be tagged prior to the official opening of free agency, but until then, he is #1 on the list of free agents according to a story on CBSSports.com, just ahead of LT Ryan Clady (Denver Broncos) and DE Cliff Avril (Detroit Lions).
