Super Bowl 2013: Empire State Building Lit Up

The Empire State Building will honor the Super Bowl , featuring the Baltimore Ravens vs. San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, February 3, 2013, with a face-off lighting showcasing dynamic special effects of the landmark’s famed LED tower lights.

Beginning at sunset on Sunday, ESB’s world-famous tower lights will rotate Ravens purple and white and 49ers gold and red. For each touchdown scored, the lights will sparkle in the scoring team’s colors. When the champion is decided, the team’s colors will dazzle the New York City skyline until sunrise.

The Empire State Building recently unveiled its new state-of-the-art LED lighting system designed by Philips Color Kinetics. The new lighting system is unique to ESB and allows customized light capabilities from a palette of over 16 million colors in limitless combinations along with special effects such as ripples, sparkles, cross-fades and bursts.
