Joe Flacco has a knack for playing his best against New England.
In his career, he's 3-3 vs. the Patriots, having won his last two meetings. He's thrown for 1,511 yards, 12 touchdowns and four interceptions in those six games.
In his first meeting with New England in 2009, Flacco and the Ravens lost 27-21. Flacco had a decent stat line, throwing for 264 yards, two touchdowns and an interception.
Flacco didn't post good numbers his second game against the Patriots in the 2009 playoffs, but he didn't need to. Despite his 4-10, 34-yard stat line, the Ravens won 33-14, with Ray Rice doing a lot of the heavy lifting. Flacco managed the game well, with Rice and the Ravens' defense defeating the Patriots to advance to the divisional round.
In 2010, the Ravens lost to the Patriots in a regular season meeting in overtime, 23-20. Flacco had a solid game, completing 27 of 35 passes for 285 yards and two touchdowns.
When the two teams met for the 2011 AFC Championship, Flacco arguably has his best game of the season. He completed 22 of 36 passes for 306 yards, two touchdowns and an interception. He should have had a third touchdown if — oh, you guys know. I won't rehash old wounds.
In 2012, the Ravens squeaked by the Patriots in Week 3 by a score of 31-30, with Flacco going 28-39 for 382 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
With the Patriots favored in the 2012 AFC Championship, Flacco put in a strong second half, ending Baltimore's 28-13 win with 240 yards and three touchdowns.
For whatever reason, Flacco has had some of his greatest games against New England. Even though he'll be playing on a sore knee, the Ravens will hope for more of the same.
They'll surely be counting on Flacco.
