The Ravens might be welcoming linebacker Jameel McClain back to practice in the near future.
According to a report from the Baltimore Sun's Aaron Wilson, McClain will be able to practice with the Ravens "sooner than later." McClain is eligible to come off the physically unable to perform list after this week. However, he's given a three-week grace period to resume practice.
McClain sustained a spinal cord contusion against the Redskins in a Week 12 loss late last season. He was initially expected to return to the playing field by training camp. However, doctors were unable to clear him because an MRI on his spinal cord was not coming back clean.
McClain would provide an experienced veteran presence next to Daryl Smith at inside linebacker. That position group was a question mark entering the season but has performed well. McClain would likely assume his starting role again whenever he's good to go.
