Could Ravens trade Bryant McKinnie to Jacksonville?

After the Jaguars traded Eugene Monroe to Baltimore, they put Luke Joeckel in at left tackle. Joeckel then broke his ankle against St. Louis and is now out for the season.

If the Ravens have the opportunity to trade Bryant McKinnie to the Jaguars for a late-round pick, they probably should.

Ravens fans, fortunately your favorite team isn't Jacksonville.

It's been a rough few years with the 2013 season culminating in a bottom that no one has seen since Detroit went 0-16 in 2008. Preparing for the future, the Jaguars traded Eugene Monroe to the Ravens for 2014 fourth- and fifth-round picks, which would then allow the organization to put 2013 first-rounder Luke Joeckel in at left tackle.

Then the St. Louis game happened and Joeckel fractured his ankle. Joeckel is out for the season and Jacksonville is without the two tackles it opened the season with.

The Jaguars are now in the market for a left tackle for the short-term, even though the long-term is still the primary focus since the season was down the drain before it kicked off.

Here's where the Ravens could get a two-for-one and help the Jaguars in the process. It would seem logical for the Ravens to work out a trade to send Bryant McKinnie to Jacksonville and perhaps get a late-round pick in return. The Jaguars would appear to be desperate for a tackle with starting experience, even if the tackle in question is not performing at that high of a level.

McKinnie had another horrible game against the Dolphins on Sunday, signifying a need for the Ravens to go ahead and cut ties with him. With Monroe slated to take over the starting job this week, the Ravens might be better served with Rick Wagner as Monroe's primary backup.

It's bizarre to think back to McKinnie's playoff performances that helped the Ravens win a Super Bowl. He kept Joe Flacco clean, he looked motivated on the field and played at a level the Ravens needed to be able to make that kind of postseason run.

That's long gone at this stage.

At minimum, McKinnie will be benched this week in favor of Monroe. If the Ravens can get anything in return for him, that would be an added bonus.
