Ravens outside linebackers Terrell Suggs, Elvis Dumervil create tough duo

Both outside linebackers have lived up to the hype as a tandem through seven games this season.

The best friend a rush linebacker can have is another linebacker that can also get after the quarterback.

That's what Terrell Suggs received this offseason when the Ravens were able to acquire Elvis Dumervil. For all the issues surrounding the Ravens at this stage of the season, here's a place where the Ravens have received nothing but positive production.

The addition of Dumervil has freed Suggs up for a lot of one-on-one opportunities. Suggs has been able to record a sack in each of the first seven games of the year, totaling eight thus far. Suggs is playing at an NFL Defensive Player of the Year level and Dumervil's presence has had a lot to do with it.

Dumervil has put in plenty of work too. He's been able to tally 5.5 sacks for the season, giving the duo 13.5 combined. Suggs' mark ranks sixth in the NFL and Dumervil's is 14th.

Only one other team has two players in the top 15 for sacks and that's the Chiefs, which has Justin Houston (11 sacks, second overall) and Tamba Hali (nine sacks, fifth overall) in the top five.

Still, it goes to show how productive the Ravens have been when getting after the quarterback. It's a luxury they'll count on throughout the remainder of the season.
