FCC Will Not Punish NBC For Airing Ravens Fans' Chant

New, comment

According to a TMZ exclusive, the FCC will not punish NBC for failing to cut the audio of the stadium chant that made it onto the air during Sunday night's Ravens vs.Patriots game.

After Baltimore Ravens cornerback Lardarius Webb made what appeared to be a game-changing interception, the referees reversed the play and called an illegal contact penalty on Webb. The Patriots retained possession, giving them a first down, although they subsequently had to punt, setting the Ravens up for the comeback victory.

Upon the referees announcement of the penalty and subsequent unsportsmanlike call on head coach John Harbaugh, fans throughout M&T Bank Stadium chanted in perfect unison their displeasure with the call. Their two-syllable chorus echoed throughout the stadium and apparently the airwaves as well. The clarity of their collective voices was so clear, there was a question of whether or not the FCC would fine NBC for airing it.
