Ryan Van Bibber from SB Nation ranked the NFL teams on the strength of the two starting safeties on each team. One would think the Baltimore Ravens' combination of the ball-hawking free safety Ed Reed along with the hard-hitting strong safety Bernard Pollard would be at or at least among the top pairs in the league.
Bibber seems to think there are five other teams with a safety tandem better than the Ravens, as he has Baltimore ranked sixth, which would probably be an honor for most teams in the league, but not for us spoiled Ravens fans, who has seen this defense ranked ranked at or near the top of the league for such a long time.
To drive the stake deeper into the heart of Ravens fans, Bibber ranks the pair of Pittsburgh Steelers safeties, Troy Polamalu and Ryan Clark, as the league's best. The four other teams ahead of Baltimore, in order are, Seattle Seahawks, Arizona Cardinals, Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. Seriously?
