Ravens Sign LB Ricky Brown

After coming in for a workout earlier today, Ricky Brown left as a member of the Baltimore Ravens. The 28-year-old has spent the last six season playing both OLB and MLB with the Oakland Raiders. During that time he has accounted for 102 combined tackles, 4 pass-deflections, and 3 forced-fumbles.

With Terrell Suggs and Michael McAdoo down with injuries, this is more than likely just a depth signing. But nevertheless it is still always good to have another veteran presence on the roster. The most valuable thing about Ricky Brown is his versatility. He can play both Mike and Sam linebacker, and even played safety in high school. He has the speed to rush/set the edge, and the physicality to play inside as well.

A bit of a fun fact here, Ricky Brown won the Greater Catholic League titles for the 100m, 200m, and 400m in 2002.

I think this is a very smart signing, and look forward to seeing what he can do in the pre-season.
