Nothing to do with the NFL, much less the Baltimore Ravens, but as mentioned in an earlier post, this is a quiet and dry time for the NFL. However, with the 2012 Olympics only a couple of weeks away, there was an interesting comparison between the original1992 USA basketball "Dream Team" and the one assembled for this month's Games.
Despite this year's team being lead by NBA Champion and league MVP LeBron James, as well as Kevin Durant and even Kobe Bryant, the original one from 1992 would be a favorite if the two teams could meet in a fantasy time-travel match-up.
According to RJ Bell from the sports wagering information site, Pregame.com, the 1992 Dream Team would be a 6.5 point favorite over the current 2012 squad. Led by Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Patrick Ewing, Larry Bird and Karl Malone, that USA squad averaged a record 117 points per game, with an average winning margin of 43 points, allowing no team to come closer than 32 points of them in any game.
