Okay, okay, I understand how many others, especially those not that thrilled to see Baltimore Ravens free safety picking off another one of their team's passes and taking it to the house. However, no other defensive back in NFL history has done what Ed does year in and out. He might seem to disappear for a few games but that's mainly because some quarterbacks stay far away from whatever side of the field Reed lines up on.
Daniel Jeremiah has been doing a series of posts called the "NFL Podium Awards" on NFL.com. He lists the top three players at each position, in the style of the upcoming Olympic Games this summer. Ed garners the Bronze Medal, behind Silver Medal winner, Green Bay Packers Charles Woodson and the Gold Medal winner from the New York Jets, Darrelle Revis.
However, the name that got our attention was in the Honorable Mention list. Ravens CB Lardarius Webb is beginning to get noticed by the rest of the league after a great 2011 season. He did not allow a passing touchdown against him all season and has become the team's best cover corner, deserving in some fan's minds of a berth in the Pro Bowl.
