The NFL Draft is only seven rounds but what begins the moment the official draft is over could easily be considered the "8th Round." NFL.com's Chad Reuter looked at the 32 teams and the undrafted free agents they jumped all over as soon as the real thing ended.
Don't think for a second that teams did not contact these players in advance, promising to contact them if their names were not called over the three-day draft. The Baltimore Ravens were no different from any other team as that is just a part of their drafting strategy, hoping certain players are not picked by other teams, but also accepting the fact that these guys were just not worthy of spending a valuable draft pick on them
Reuter likes the Ravens post-draft signing of Mississippi State offensive tackle James Carmon. Here is what Reuter says about the signing:
"Carmon was originally brought to Starkville to play defensive tackle, and was compared to new teammate Terrence Cody because of his size (6'5 1/2", 330 pounds) and junior college background. The Ravens will continue his education as an offensive tackle with the hopes he flourishes."
