The Baltimore Orioles opened the2012 MLB season and while no one will ever confuse Baltimore as a baseball town nowadays, the Ravens still chose to rub it in a bit. According to a story on NFL.com, on opening day this past Friday, the Ravens posted this along with a photo of M&T Bank Stadium on their Facebook page:
"Raise your hand if you'd rather be cheering in THIS stadium than a baseball stadium today!"
While many will not see this as a diss to the Ravens neighbors, others were greatly offended as noted in the article. At the same time, the Orioles have no one to blame other than themselves, on their way to what certainly will end up being their 15th straight losing season.
Obviously, this statement was not posted by a Ravens team official, but it was posted on the team's official site, even if it was put there by an employee or intern. To be fair to the team, I'm sure it was not purposely meant to embarrass the baseball team and the post was removed from the Facebook page and replaced with this:
"We made a mistake and we have apologized to the Orioles. In no way did we mean to disrespect the Orioles."
