Ravens Brass Speaks On 2nd Round Picks

Shortly after making their second of two picks in the 2nd round of the 2012 NFL Draft, the Baltimore Ravens brain-trust held a press conference at their Owings Mills Practice Facility and Baltimore Beatdown was there to take in all the action.

General Manager Ozzie Newsome, head coach John Harbaugh, Director of Player Personnel Eric DeCosta and Director of College Scouting Joe Hortiz sat n the stage and took questions from the assembled media. Here's a snippet of what they each said:

Newsome noted that both guys were seniors, which meant they had a lot of playing experience. On offensive tackle Kelechi Osemele, Ozzie said he could play guard or center. He mentioned that "KO" as the GM said they were calling him for now, has long arms, moves well and had 32 reps of the bench press at the NFL Scouting Combine.

DeCosta said Upshaw plays like a "junkyard dog, and he bolsters our linebacker situation. Hortiz added that Upshaw is a really explosive player.

At the same time, Newsome reminded everyone that what you do on day three really determines how the draft is.
