Beatdown Writer's Super Bowl Predictions

Both teams are playing very well right now, especially at the quarterback position. Brady has his offense clicking on all cylinders and Eli is playing his best ever. Not sure one will truly "outplay" the other. I think New York has an edge in defense. Also, I doubt Wilfork will be able to replicate his game against us and stand on his head like he did. The Patriots are favored by three and a hook. I believe the Giants’ defense can keep Brady in check much like we did. I also believe the Giants’ running game is more effective than New England’s. I like taking the points in this; in fact, I like the Giants outright 24 – 23 in a squeaker.

Eli shreds New England's defense for 360 yards and 4 TD's. Tom Brady is strip sacked twice by Pierre-Paul. New Yorks wins 31-20. That's all I got, still too bitter to care enough about this game. Probably will just watch the Puppy Bowl on Animal Planet.

Well, there was one thing I was right about at the start of the playoffs: the Giants would make it to the Super Bowl. I picked them to win against the Falcons, the Packers, and the 49ers. The Giants have been playing complete football throughout the playoffs with Eli Manning really catching fire. Giants’ star wide-out, Victor Cruz, is an absolutely nightmarish match up for the Patriots’ shaky secondary. If Manning’s offensive line can protect him against a resurging Pats defensive line led by big man, Vince Wilfork, the Pats secondary could be in for a long day. Meanwhile, Tom Brady will have his hands full eluding a fearsome Giants pass rush led by DE Jason Pierre-Paul. With an injured Gronkowski, Brady will have to rely on his security blanket, Wes Welker, to come up big for him. Although Brady has led his team to numerous 4th quarter comebacks, I just don’t think the match ups fall in the Patriots’ favor on Super Bowl Sunday. My pick:

Giants Win 27-24
