Davin Meggett will be the only member of the Maryland Terrapins at the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine, which begins Wednesday at Lucas Oil Stadium, home of the Indianapolis Colts. Meggett, son of former Towson University's and New York Giants RB Dave Meggett, was the Terps leading rusher in their disappointing 2011 season, finishing with 922 yards on 171 carries, for a 5.2 yards per carry average and four touchdowns. He also added 17 receptions for another 141 yards and one TD catch.
At 5'8" and 214 pounds, Meggett is built similar to the Baltimore Ravens' Ray Rice, but will have a long road ahead of him if he ever hopes to replicate the success that Rice has had in his first four years in the NFL. According to NFL Draft Scout, Meggett is the 17th ranked running back out of 184 in this year's draft.
Meggett wil be one of 28 running backs invited to the Combine, led by Alabama's Trent Richardson, plus other highly ranked runners including Lamar Miller (Miami, FL), David Wilson (Virginia Tech), LaMichael James (Oregon) and Chris Rainey (Florida).
