Ravens Player Inactive For Today's Game

The Baltimore Ravens just released the list of seven players who will be inactive and not playing versus the Cincinnati Bengals this afternoon.

The Star-Ledger-USA TODAY Sports

Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs, Haloti Ngata, Anquan Boldin, Marshal Yanda, Bernard Pollard, Tandon Doss.

Get the picture? It appears that the Ravens will be resting their walking wounded to have them healthier for the first playoff game either next Saturday or Sunday.

Does that mean the team is "tanking" today's game? Absolutely not, as we've sen how wel the reserves have played when given the opportunity or thrust into starting positions. Guys such as Dannell Ellerbe, Josh Bynes, James Ihedigbo, Courtney Upshaw have all gained valuable experience with increased reps.

With both Boldin and Doss out at wide receiver, other than Torrey Smith and Jacoby Jones, who else will line up there? Remember, LaQuan Williams was placed on IR to make room for Ray Lewis' return. That appears to leave David Reed and Deonte Thompson as the only other receivers on the active roster. This could mean that we will see a lot of two-tight end sets with both Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson on the field at the same time. It could also mean a lot of two-back sets, with Vonta Leach and Ray Rice, as well as a lot of both Bernard Pierce and Anthony Allen.

Word is that Tyrod Taylor will get his share of reps as well, so the wideout situation should not end up being such a big deal.

In addition, the Cincinnati Bengals will be doing a lot of the same things with their roster, so before you think this game is lost before the teams even step on the field, I am confident that the Ravens reserves are still better than the Bengals reserves.

GO RAVENS!!!
