As good as the Baltimore Ravens looked at times yesterday against the Pittsburgh Steelers, They looked equally as bad if not worse for more of the game. They dropped easy passes, over-threw wide open receivers and fumbled away what could have been a hard fought victory to push the team to 10-2 for the first time in franchise history.
Anquan Boldin had a nice day on the stat sheet with five catches for 81 yards and a touchdown but had several key drops in crucial situations that will not show.. Torrey Smith on the other hand was covered mainly by a back up corner back and still could not make the big play that the team desperately needed. He ended the day with 3 catches for 33 yards, quite a pedestrian performance.
Ray Rice looked as if he could take the game over if need be but went largely unused as the evening progressed causing fans to ask the same old question... Why not use your best player the most? Rice ended the contest with 78 yards on 12 attempts and a touchdown and one reception for five yards.
Joe Flacco threw the ball 34 times connecting only 16 times for 188 yards with one TD and one int. There were many drops but he over-threw many a wide open receiver and his pocket presence was terrible.
There is so much more to get into about this game but, for now, that is all I will say. I am beginning to get sick to my stomach and have to try and think about something else like unicorns and rainbows for a while. I'd say take it easy and relax Ravens Nation but I know you can't. We took this one on the chin from Charlie freaking Batch and it's gonna sting for a while. That's all....
