Six Ravens Still Lead In Pro Bowl Voting

With less than one week remaining in the fan voting, six players on the Baltimore Ravens lead their respective positions to represent the AFC in the Pro Bowl.

Fans can still vote for their favorite players at NFL.com/ProBowl through Monday, December 17th. In the meantime, the Baltimore Ravens appear to be one of the most well-represented teams in the league, with players at six different positions leading their peers in the AFC.

Ravens fans will not be surprised to see FS Ed Reed, DT Haloti Ngata and even FB Vonta Leach ahead of others at their positions, but perhaps the rest may be a bit of a surprise. Reed's partner at strong safety, Bernard Pollard, is the third member of the defense to lead his position.

On the offensive side of ball, joining Leach, is OT Michael Oher, which is surprising as so many Ravens fans are debating whether or not Oher should be representing the team at his left tackle position or would he be best suited returning to the right side. WR Jacoby Jones is the leading vote getter, but obviously not at the receiving position, but as the kick returner, as he has three TD returns so far in the 2012 season, two on kickoffs and one on a punt return.

There are still a few days left in the voting, so Ravens fans should vote early and often to ensure this team is represented and these guys continue to lead their respective positions,as many of them probably have bonus clauses in their contracts and canuse every penny to help them get by.

Below is the press release from the NFL with the overall and position leaders in each conference:

The AFC and NFC All-Star squads are based on the consensus votes of fans, players and coaches. Each group’s vote counts one-third toward determining the 43-man rosters that represent the American Football Conference and National Football Conference in the Pro Bowl. NFL players and coaches will cast their votes on December 20-21.

The NFL is the only sports league that combines voting by fans, coaches and players to determine its all-star teams. It was the first professional sports league to offer online all-star voting in 1995.
