It shouldn't come as a surprise to fans of either the Baltimore Ravens or Pittsburgh Steelers that QB Ben Roethlisberger has already been ruled out of Sunday's game. His rib and shoulder injuries may have healed but the typical pounding he usually takes in these games between the two division rivals was just not worth the risk with five games remaining in the regular season.
Backup QB Byron Leftwich is also out for the game and veteran Charlie Batch will start and be backed up by former New England Patriots backup Brian Hoyer. In addition to those two, tackle Mike Adams and LB LaMarr Woodley will not be playing for Pittsburgh.
For the Ravens, CB Jimmy Smith will miss another game and TE Ed Dickson is considered doubtful for the contest. Three Ravens, LB Dannell Ellerbe, CB Chris Johnson and DE Pernell McPhee are considered questionable. The probable list is long and insignificant, as most of the time, those on this list still suit up and play.
