Who would have thought that Baltimore Ravens corner back Cary Williams might get his first Pro Bowl nod before teammate Lardarius Webb? No doubt if Webb was healthy this season, he too would be in considered for the trip to Hawaii but the leading vote getter in the AFC?! Cary Williams, with 141,660 votes??
Williams has had the best season of his short professional career notching a career high 4 interceptions while being matched up against the opposing team's top receiver. This season Williams has covered the likes of A.J. Green, Mike Wallace, Miles Austin, Dez Bryant, DeSean Jackson, Brandon Lloyd, Dwayne Bowe, Andre Johnson and Danario Alexander. In those games he has recorded 52 total tackles, one sack, four interceptions and 11 passes defended. Not bad.
Williams is often slighted by the fans here in Baltimore but at this point is by far our most consistent corner, especially since the rest of them can't stay healthy. Williams leads the voting for now but that could change as voting progresses. So, for now, let's not look a gift horse in the mouth and appreciate Williams for his weekly effort with the team and having to deal with some very tough assignments.
