Ravens Need To Erase Road Doubts

Every time the Baltimore Ravens go on the road to play, fans get concerned and rightly so. As almost unbeatable as they are at the friendly confines of Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium, the Ravens have been extremely unpredictable every time they set foot on enemy soil.

As often as they go into Heinz Field and defeat the Pittsburgh Steelers as visitors, they also go to other teams supposedly offering significantly less of a challenge, yet find a way to fall flat on their collective faces and leave with a disappointing loss. Four times Baltimore went on the road against lesser opponents in 2011 and all four times they fell apart and lost in miserable fashion.

The Ravens have beaten the Kansas City Chiefs in Arrowhead Stadium the last two times they've played there, including an impressive30-7 beatdown in the 2010 playoffs. Even the Chiefs fans are expecting a blowout - by the Ravens. Hopefully they are correct, but we've all seen the Ravens play down to the level of their competition and losing a game that they knew they should have won.

Earlier this season, Baltimore lost their only road game so far to the Philadelphia Eagles. A one point loss to a toughEagles team, but the game could have been a double-digit victory had the team only played a bit better in the third quarter and still could have scratched out a win in the last two minutes.

A convincing win on the road in what is considered a tough place to escape victorious would be a huge confidence builder for both the fans and the players. Kansas City has already lost two games at home this season, both by double-digits. If Baltimore can continue this trend for the Chiefs and start a new one for the Ravens, a 4-1 record following with a home game against the Dallas Cowboys would go a long way to setting up a great game the following week at the Houston Texans, perhaps the hottest team in the NFL right now.
