According to the National Football Post, former Baltimore Ravens strong safety Dawan Landry will be signing a contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars today. This cements the fact that he will not be returning to the team and opens up the opportunity for someone else to shine next to All-Pro free safety Ed Reed.
Landry is rumored to be signing a five year deal, although the amount has not yet been released. In his five years with Baltimore, Landry had mixed results and many felt he had not been the same player since getting a concussion in a game versus the Cleveland Browns a couple of years ago.
This gives Tom Zbikowski the leg up on the competition that could come from Haruki Nakamura as well as any other free agent the team may attempt to sign. Zbikowski played solid in his role when Ed Reed was injured and missed the first six games of the 2010 season. Nakamura was more of a nickel or dime back but knows the ravens system and both he and Zbi are roommates on the road and best friends on the team.
