Flacco Staying Positive, Reaching Out To Rookies

During a lull in last week's charity softball game set up by Baltimore Ravens guard Ben Grubbs, QB Joe Flacco spoke to Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times. He answered questions about staying busy during the lockout and helping some of the rookies get a head start on what may be an abbreviated version of training camp whenever it starts at some point later this summer.

In addition to throwing footballs at the player-only practice a few weeks ago, Flacco fielded some ground balls and made the throws at Grubbs' charity event last week. He also is continuing to prepare and watch tape to further master the team's playbook, which he shared with a couple of rookie draft picks.

Both QB Tyrod Taylor (Virginia Tech) and WR Tandon Doss (Indiana) spent time with Joe, watching game film and looking their their playbooks, courtesy of Flacco. Taylor termed the time invaluable and said this gives him a "jumpstart." No offense, Tyrod, but we sort of are hoping yo don't have to line up under center all too often in 2011. Doss was one of Flacco's choices when he was asked which college receivers he'd like the Ravens to draft this past April, so both guys know this time together will only help their chemistry as well.
