Ed Reed's Two "Families" Helped Him Through Tragedy

When Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed found out just before the team's first playoff game in Kansas City in early January that his brother had disappeared beneath the frigid waters of the Mississippi River, his two "families" came to his side for emotional support to help him through this tough time.

Brian Reed's body was pulled from the river almost three weeks later to confir Reed's worst fears, but the way his own family and his Ravens family stood by him during this tragedy helped him focus and turn his grief towards the football field as his distraction.

In a story posted on nola.com, Reed is holding a football camp in Louisiana and reflected back on that very difficult time for him and his family. He was thankful for how his teammates came to his aide when he needed them the most. Not a bad return on the investment he's made over the past ten years coming to their aid in the Ravens secondary.
