Baltimore Ravens LB Sergio Kindle got his day in court yesterday and pleaded guilty to his DUI charge. Kindle received two years probation but no jail time, mainly because he spent time in a drug and alcohol treatment facility last week. He was ordered to not have any alcohol and must attend self-help meetings on a weekly basis, according to a story on ProFootballTalk.com.
Kindle has had issues with alcohol prior to this incident, with at least one other DUI incident as well as being involved in a car crash. Of course, most people know about his fall down two flights of stairs just prior to Training Camp opening in 2010, which resulted in a cracked skull and forcing Kindle to miss the entire 2010 NFL season.
Hopefully now, with this incident behind him, Kindle can not only concentrate on football and stay on a straight course, but heal enough from his head injury to be cleared for contact so he can return to the football field for the Ravens in 2011, which would be akin to the team getting another great draft pick in what would unofficially be Kindle's "rookie" season.
