Todd Heap was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens with the 31st pick of the 2001 NFL Draft, less than three months after the Ravens won Super Bowl 35. In ten seasons with the team, Heap has been named to the Pro Bowl two times (2002-03) after learning behind former teammate Shannon Sharpe his rookie season. In ten years, Heap has caught 467 passes for 5,492 yards and 41 touchdown receptions, all easily franchise records.

Heap missed three games in 2010, but still caught 40 passes for 599 yards and five scores, including a career long 65-yard TD catch and run in their week twelve 17-10 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Heap had had to develop chemistry with a long list of quarterbacks, but now seems to be a clutch target in key situations by QB Joe Flacco.

In the 2010 NFL Draft, the Ravens selected two tight ends in the third and fourth rounds. Many skeptics thought this would be the beginning of the end of Heap's reign in Baltimore, but Todd responded with another solid season and the difference in Flacco's level of confidence between Heap and the two rookies was obvious and clear. Heap is only 31 years old and right now has no plans to retire or give up any of his playing time as he is looking to join in on leading this offense to the Super Bowl in 2011, and perhaps rise even higher from being rated the seventh best draft pick in Ravens history.
