Stay here with Baltimore Beatdown to post your comments during this Thursday Night Football game-time 'Open Thread.' In the past, not only would this game be inconsequential to the Baltimore Ravens, but we would all be rooting for the Houston Texans to crush those hated Indianapolis Colts. However, without Peyton Manning to lead them, the Colts are the worst team in the league and hold the lead in the "race" for the 1st overall pick and Stanford QB Andrew Luck in the 2012 NFL Draft.
On the other hand, the Texans have been one of the biggest surprises of the 2011 season, having clinched the AFC South title and just behind the Ravens in the playoff seeding, with Baltimore currently holding the #2 seed and Houston at #3, both behind the current #1 seeded New England Patriots.
Therefore, in order to give the Ravens a bit more breathing room, Baltimore will be rooting for Indy to upset the Texans, which would simultaneously help the Ravens chances at a first round playoff bye, putting Houston at home in the first round of the playoffs but on the road if they win their first post season game in team history. It could also have "disastrous" effects on the Colts chance to nab Andrew Luck, as there are two other teams in the league with only two wins and another Colts victory could tie both the Minnesota Vikings and the St. Louis Rams for the worst record in the league.
