Packers Early Favorite Over Steelers in Super Bowl

The opening wagering line is out and the Green Bay Packers are 2.5 point favorites over the Pittsburgh Steelers in the Super Bowl, to be played February 6, 2011 in Dallas, Texas. The Green Bay Packers went from the sixth seed in the NFC to Conference Champions, after three road playoff victories including Sunday's 21-14 win over the Chicago Bears. Green Bay's last Super Bowl appearance was 1998, when they lost to the Denver Broncos, 31-24. The Packers won Super Bowl's I, II & XXXI in 1967,1968 and 1997.

Over in the AFC, the Pittsburgh Steelers protected their home turf and got revenge for an earlier regular season loss to the New York Jets by hanging on Sunday evening to "de-feet" Rex Ryan's loudmouths, 24-19. This is the Steelers 3rd Super Bowl appearance in the past six years as they are going now for their seventh ring in the franchise history. Their most recent Super Bowl appearance was in 2008, when they defeated the Arizona Cardinals in one of the most exciting Super Bowl games, 27-23.

Despite being a sixth seed in the NFC while the Steelers were the second seed in the AFC, the Packers were installed as the early favorite by virtue of their incredible offensive prowess over their three game playoff win streak. It will be a battle between a great offense (Packers) and a great defense (Steelers).

Let the hype begin!
