The Ravens will host their annual Countdown to Kickoff Barbeque at M&T Bank Stadium Wednesday (8/25). The end-of-summer event, complete with a gameday atmosphere, will feature the entire Ravens roster, Ravens cheerleaders and festive cuisine. Guests will experience the traditional Ravens player introduction gauntlet, complete with flame towers, CO2 jet helmets and a smoke curtain.
Proceeds from the Countdown to Kickoff Barbeque benefit the Ravens’ charitable arm, the Ravens All Community Team Foundation. The foundation is committed to improving, encouraging and enabling the healthy development of youth in the Baltimore area, as well as other parts of the state of Maryland. The foundation focuses on programs that help youth, and in some cases their families, with various needs, including housing, hunger, education, athletics and mentoring.
Recent foundation projects include the renovation of the football stadium at Mergenthaler Vocational Technical (Mervo) High School (2008), playground builds at Collington Square School (2007) and the Child Development Center at Good Samaritan Hospital (2009), and the newly-launched Ravens Scholarship Program, which supports five local students annually with $5,000 renewable college scholarships.
Please Note: Ravens players and coaches will not be available for individual interviews at the event. However, head coach John Harbaugh and veterans LB Ray Lewis and WR Derrick Mason will address the more than 500 people in attendance from a staged setting.
