Did Ed Reed Have Hip Surgery?

According to the Baltuimore Sun's Jamison Hensley, Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed had a "procedure" on his hip that had been ailing him and forced him to miss four games during the 2009 regular season. According to the story, Ravens officials would not confirm that the "procedure" was specifically a surgical one.

The story also mentions that Reed will not be a participant in this weekend's mini-camp, which will be held at the Owings Mills Training Complex from Friday through Sunday.

Reed has reportedly said he is undecided about returning to play again in 2010. Ray Lewis, Reed's closest friend on the team was quoted as saying he thought Ed would return for another season, while Reed said his thoughts on returning for his 9th NFL season were "50-50."
