Al Saunders Promoted

Saunders_mediumThe Baltimore Ravens have promoted veteran NFL offensive coordinator Al Saunders to senior offensive consultant, the team announced today.

Saunders, who interviewed for the quarterbacks coach position that went to Jim Zorn, has been with the team since last summer on a consulting basis. He'll assist offensive coordinator Cam Cameron with developing game plans and work with the tight ends and wide receivers.

"We are very fortunate to have him involved here, he has as much experience in our system as anybody in the league. By the end of the year, we will have stolen every great idea he ever had." He said with a gaping grin.

For those of you asking how this helps us, well look at his previous experiences. Some of these former offenses include "Air Coryell" and "The Greatest Show on Turf."

"It's a real great marriage in terms of ideas and philosophies," Saunders said. "Cam and I are so close to the philosophical approach to football and how to do things with the quarterbacks and receivers and passing game that it's really an enjoyable thing for me to be here."

"I'm at the stage of my career where I really enjoy the strategy of the game," Saunders also said. "But most of all, you like working with the players to help their skills get really better. So I'm really enjoying where I am right now."

This will be a great combination combining Cam's run happy offense, and Saunder's "Air it out" offense. Great Job Ozzie, You just made us better.
