The "Mother" of all NFL Power Rankings

You've seen the NFL Power Rankings all over the place, in newspapers, on radio and TV and especially around the internet. Every major sports source puts one out, including our own SB Nation. However, when the guru of computer and statistical data decides to put in his two-cents worth, then the rest of the world needs to pay attention. Jeff Sagrin, who is best known for his 'Sagarin Rankings' that are widely known, respected and used by baseball fans as well as team executives, also does a similar power ranking of the NFL.

They are up-to-date and have a ton of data and other factors involved. He points out the differences between some of the other rankings on his site and which is better for ranking the teams and which is better for predicting the games.

Sagarin's NFL Power Rankings is the closet thing to trying to rank the teams similar to the BCS rankings in college football. Therefore, if you want to hold his stuff as the NFL Power Rankings 'Bible' then here are his top five NFL teams:

1. New England Patriots

2. Pittsburgh Steelers

3. Atlanta Falcons

4. New York Jets

5. Baltimore Ravens

(Check out his full NFL Power Rankings here.)

Of course, every NFL fan knows these ranking will have to be totally revamped after next week, when the Ravens host the Steelers on Sunday Night Football and the Patriots host the Jets on Monday Night Football. Looks like the NFL schedulers got it right for next weekend's prime time games, huh!?
