I thought the Baltimore Ravens would have a tough time beating the Atlanta Falcons this past Thursday night and I was right However, as a fan and an admitted 'homer,' I went with Baltimore as my pick because I thought they were the better team although the home field advantage was heavily in the Falcons favor. With one loss in the books for the week, I hope to repeat last week's solid record with nine correct picks.
Jets over Browns: Wow, wouldn't it be great to be wrong on this selection and add New York to Cleveland's impressive resume of wins over the Saints and Patriots. Either way, you know one coach named "Ryan" will win!
Bills over Lions: Buffalo is actually the favorite at home in this battle of teams in the hunt for the #1 overall pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, but I like the Bills to beat a Detroit team that is improving but still terrible on the road.
Bears over Vikings: Here we are with my "Upset Special Pick of the Week" as I like Chicago at home against a Minnesota team that is a bit of disarray you might say. Jay Cutler will out-duel the old man who said this week that he is not coming back in 2011. Yeah,...right!
Colts over Bengals: Peyton Manning has absolutely zero interest in losing twice in a row after the physical loss to the Eagles last week. Meanwhile, Cincinnati falls further into the basement of the AFC North, behind even Cleveland!
Jaguars over Texans: Houston is the better offense but their defense is so poor that even Jacksonville can move the ball and should score enough points at home to win this game which should be a shootout.
Titans over Dolphins: The addition of Randy Moss for Tennessee should help both him and RB Chris Johnson and Miami continues to be a better team on the road than at home (or at least they were before last week!).
Buccaneers over Panthers: Tampa Bay returns home to win another game, this time over a Carolina team that is fast beginning to look like the worst team in the league.
Chiefs over Broncos: I was thinking about going with this as the "Upset Special Pick of the Week" but couldn't bring myself to have the confidence in Denver to play sixty minutes and stop a Kansas City rushing attack that is as good as any in the NFL.
Cardinals over Seahawks: I'm tempted to take Seattle in this game but with Matt Hasselbeck still not confirmed as the starter, I can't not go with the home team Arizona in this battle for mediocrity in the NFL's weakest division.
Giants over Cowboys: Are you serious? Should I even bother to go into any detail about this game in New York against the biggest train wreck of a franchise this season? No, then watch Dallas go out and shock the world. Not!
49ers over Rams: Even though St. Louis QB Sam Bradford is well on his way to the Rookie-of-the-Year award, it's about time for San Francisco to get it in gear to ride QB Troy Smith's arm to the AFC Worst West title.
Steelers over Patriots (Sunday Night Football): I just can't see New England winning on the road again in Pittsburgh after losing on the road in Cleveland like they did and they should be beaten up on both sides of the ball by the time this one is over (although we can wish otherwise!).
Eagles over Redskins (Monday Night Football): Prime time in the nation's capital for the match-up of Donovan McNabb vs. Michael Vick. I like Philadelphia's chances with the athletic QB over Washington with the QB who reportedly wasn't in good enough cardio shape to run the two-minute offense last week.
Last week: 9-4
Season record: 78-52
