The Baltimore Ravens comeback from a 13 point fourth quarter deficit fell just short as the Atlanta Falcons responded in a big way, going 80 yards in the final seconds to beat the Ravens 26-21. Falcons QB Matt Ryan threw a TD pass to Roddy White, who appeared to obviously threw cornerback Josh Wilson to the ground before catching the ball for the game-winner.
Joe Flacco calmly led his team downfield on the prior drive to give the Ravens the short-lived lead. Then Matty Ice just drove a nail in the hearts of the Ravens by doing the same thing for his Falcons and the Ravens only had seconds left that they could not do anything with to change the outcome.
A disappointing loss to a good team, but when the Ravens play as poor as they did in the first half and still have a chance to win the game in the final seconds, they were unable to prevent the opposition from driving downfield for the winning score. Once again, had the Ravens only played a bit better and their defense have held the Falcons for the final minute, their 6-3 record could have easily have been 7-2 going into this ten day break before they travel to Carolina to face the Panthers.
The fans will now debate the effort that brought the team back from a sure loss to contend for the win, while the detractors will fault the poor play of the offense in the first half and the poor defense on the last drive of the game for the loss. Therefore, let the debate begin right here on Baltimore Beatdown!
