Ravens to Place Jared Gaither on Injured Reserve

Apparently, the Baltimore Ravens are about to announce that they have put injured offensive tackle Jared Gaither on Injured Reserve, thereby ending his 2010 season without ever getting onto the playing field. Gaither was limited for most of Training Camp this summer with a back injury that many thought was partly related to his protesting being moved from left tackle to the right side.

Gaither was in the final year of his contract and was fully aware that left tackles garner huge free agent contracts as opposed to right tackles in the NFL. However, not being able to prove that he is healthy and should be considered an elite offensive tackle, be it on the left or right side, significantly diminishes his value going into 2011.
