NFL Trade Deadline Today

The deadline for trading in the NFL is today and while there doesn't appear to be much in the way of activity, there are a couple of noteworthy players who have been rumored to being trade bait as the dust settles on this season's contenders and pretenders.

One of the most talked about players being on the trading block is disgruntled defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth. Haynesworth's name is usually mentioned in a trade possibility with his former team, the Tennessee Titans. However, barring a last minute deal that was rumored to be a second round pick, a relatively high price even for Haynesworth, this deal is looking to be a 50:50 shot at best.

The one deal that many Baltimore Ravens fans were wondering about was the one that could see RB Willis McGahee going to another team, perhaps the Green bay Packers, who have lost star runing back Ryan Grant and would seem to be a great fit for McGahee to return to being the featured back in what is already a high-powered offense. However, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh pretty much squelched all rumors by saying at a recent press conference that Willis would be on the roster the rest of the year and the reason he did not play a snap in Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots had nothing to do with that.

There is also the rumor that theSan Diego Chargers LB Shawne Merriman might become a Baltimore Raven, as Merriman was placed on Injured Reserve by San Diego, although he could be released once he is healthy and a return to his college home state might be a great fit for both Shawne and the Ravens.

Keep it on Baltimore Beatdown, which will timely report any Ravens-related news, trades and/or rumors as they happen.
