Ravens GM Hopes to keep Defensive FA's

According to an article by the Baltimore Sunpaper's Ken Murray, Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome stated that he is still hoping to keep the defensive stalwarts who were planning on testing the free agent market as Ravens in the near future. Free agency begins this week and both Ray Lewis and Bart Scott figure to garner a ton of interest on the open market when they hit it. However, Ozzie has other plans and is working on contract offers to keep them in the purple and black next season and beyond.

Newsome reportedly also is planning on retaining center Jason Brown, a key fixture on the rapidly improving young offensive line. However, he did acknowledge that he does not have the same hope for both safety Jim Leonhard and veteran kicker Matt Stover, the only remaining member of the original Cleveland Browns team that moved here in 1996.
