Shotgun Formation Saves Our Lives: Ravens Win 30-27

Even though this game shouldn't have been close, it was. And it looked like we were looking ahead to next week during the first half trailing 24-6. But with a little bit of hope, plays out of the Shotgun formation, and honestly a bit of luck, the Baltimore Ravens narrowly pulled out the win over the Arizona Cardinals, with Billy Cundiff putting the nail in the coffin to put the Ravens ahead 30-27 with no time left.

Obviously the Ravens have some things to clean up before next week against the Pittsburgh Steelers, but for now enjoy this exciting win. This week's gameball has to go to Anquan Boldin, for putting his team in position to win by making a lot of crucial catches and beating his former team in the process. I look forward to seeing you all next week as we take on the Steelers.

GO RAVENS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Much Ado About Nothing, or a Plan In the Works?

Late yesterday afternoon the Baltimore Ravens released Derrick Mason, Todd Heap, Willis McGahee, and Kelly Gregg. A move that could clear roughly 18.6 million dollars in cap-room. And while it has been made evident that the Ravens are interested in bringing back at least 3 of those names for a lesser contract, it still begs the question; What is Ozzie up to?

Torrey Smith Defends Jimmy Smith

It has already apparent that WR Torrey Smith is a very high character guy, this was especially made clear this morning when Torrey interjected his opinion on teammate Jimmy Smith when he was Jimmy was questioned on his character and history of off the field problems. After Jimmy answered this question, a reporter began asking Torrey a question about a different topic, but the wideout politely stopped him. He had something he wanted to say:

"Going off what he said, I’ve had an opportunity to know Jimmy myself," Torrey said. "He’s a great guy. The way the media tries to portray him, I feel like that’s not him. He’s a great guy, he’s down to earth. Like he said, his things are in the past so I feel like people should focus more so on what he’s going to do from this day forward."

Torrey and Jimmy got to know each other when they came to Baltimore at the same time for visits to the Ravens’ Owings Mills, Maryland facility. They roomed with each other and spoke for a few hours about football and other topics.

"We’ll definitely have some fun," Torrey said with a smile. "I feel like they brought us in both to help make an impact and we’re going to push each other to help us be the best players we can be."

I for one, am excited to have such high talented and high character guys wearing purple and black.

The Night Before Christmas (Just Want to Spread the Spirit)

349508273_2036357_medium

What a better way to celebrate Christmas than with this classic poem?

Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,

In hopes that St Nicholas soon would be there.

Ravens Win a Nail-Biter 37-34

After being practically destroyed in the 1st quarter the Ravens grabbed the shovel and dug themselves out of a 17-3 deficit with a TD pass to Todd Heap, setting the score at 17-10. Well, what looked to be a bad day got worse with a 20-yard TD pass to Lee Evans from Ryan Fitzgerald, putting the Bills ahead 24-10. The next drive Billy Cundiff hit a 48-yard field-goal, making the score 24-13. On the ensuing kick-off C.J. Spiller fumbled the ball giving, putting the Ravens in scoring position. Joe Flacco took advantage of this mistake by launching another TD pass to Todd Heap; making the score 24-20 going into half-time.

Ravens: 20 Patriots: 23: Good ol' Cam Cameron

Where's the flag?!

Going into this game most Ravens fans, such as myself, thought we had a good chance to win. We went into half time leading 10-7. And in the 3rd quarter Flacco launched a pass to Boldin, increasing the Raven's lead to 17-7. And that's when Cam Cameron did what he does best: loses games. Poor-play calling and lack of execution allowed the Patriots back into the game. The Patriots tied the game up 20-20 putting the game into overtime. We managed to not score on 3 OT possessions, which allowed the Patriots to drive down the field and make a game-winning field goal.

Next we Take on Buffalo at home. This should be an easy win, but with Cameron's play-calling anything could happen. The Ravens need to refocus and get back to winning. Now we move on to Buffalo... Let's go Ravens!

Ravens' Flacco and TJ Get it Done in 17-14 Victory

Going into this game Ravens fans and Steelers fans alike knew this was going to be a good game.  Well they weren't let down. This was a classic rivalry game between the Steelers and Ravens that literally came down to the last second.

The game started of with a long-bomb from Charlie Batch to Antwaan Randel El, capped off with a 1-yard run by Rashard Mendenhall to give the Steelers the early lead. The Ravens responding accordingly with a TD run by Willis McGahee in the 2nd quarter and a field goal by Billy Cundiff to give the Ravens the 3-point lead going into half-time. The 3rd quarter resulted in a defensive lock-out that both teams know so well, going without a single point. Halfway through the 4th quarter Rashard Mendenhall punched one into the end-zone to give the Steelers the lead. Then, with seconds remaining left in the game, with all hope looking lost, Flacco nailed T.J. Houshmandzadeh in the end-zone to win the game for the Ravens; 17-14

This was a great divisional win by the Ravens, to launch us to 3-1, and 2-1 in the AFC North. If I'm correct we are now 1st in our division. A great finish by the Ravens. Today Joe Flacco proved that he has what it takes to be our franchise quarterback. Let's keep this momentum going into next week against the Broncos and pick up another "W". Let's go Ravens!!!

Ravens Edge Out Browns 24-17

The Ravens looked like a new team today. Flacco had a sense of confidence which allowed him to throw a record-tying 3 TDs to Anquan Boldin. If our offense plays like this the rest of the year, we will be fine. The only thing that looked bad today, was Cam Camerons play calling. He abandoned the running game. We have a great "3-headed running-back monster" he just doesn't utilize it enough. Overall, it was a good offensive game.

Our Defense, on the other hand, looked rather sluggish and were the main reason why Flacco had to step up for most of the game. They allowed a 100+ yard rusher, which is blasphemy for our defense. One of the only signs of life by our defense was our surprisingly tough pass coverage, which shut-down Josh Cribbs. On the up-side, the defense came to life in the 4th quarter, which allowed us to maintain our 7 point lead, and eventually win the game.

Next week we travel to Pittsburgh to take on the 3-0 Steelers. What we need to do to take control of our division is to A.) run the ball, and don't give up on it if it doesn't work at first. B.) Spread the ball to all of the WRs. Boldin will probably be eaten up by Polomalu, so Flacco needs to target Mason, Houshmanzadeh, and Heap. C.) Play a tough defense. Even though Ben is out, we need to not underestimate the Steeler's running game, and hold them to 10-17 points. A good win by the Ravens, but now we con focus on the important game. Lets go Ravens!!!
