It is no secret that the Ravens have depth issues at wide receiver.
With Steve Smith Sr. out "week to week," Campanaro going on IR, and Perriman being out indefinitely, Baltimore is left with few options at wide receiver. Kamar Aiken, Marlon Brown, Darren Waller, and recently acquired Chris Givens round out the depth chart at the position.
With the string of injuries and a lack of depth, the Ravens are finding themselves involved in a lot of rumors for potential wide receivers that are supposedly on the trade market. Here are a few of the names that have recently been mentioned.
This is not confirming the Ravens have interest in these players, this is just a list of players that the Ravens have been linked to.
Alshon Jeffery (Chicago Bears)
Golden Tate (Detroit Lions)
Kenny Stills (Miami Dolphins)
Andre Roberts (Washington Redskins)
Roddy White (Atlanta Falcons)
Eddie Royal (Chicago Bears)
Ricardo Lockette (Seattle Seahawks)
Jeffery is a longshot. It is highly doubtful the Bears would trade away their top wide receiver who is just now entering his prime. Although they seem to be trading everybody else, and Jeffery is in the last year of his deal, it's very unlikely the Bears would trade him away without getting a significant return. Even then, how willing would the Ravens be to put together such a significant offer for what may be a three-month rental?
Golden Tate has been heavily mentioned, but with the Ravens' lack of salary cap room, it seems unlikely, but not impossible. In my opinion, Tate would be the best fit and the most likely to produce. He has great hands and thrives off picking up yards after the catch. If the Ravens can find a way to bring in Tate, I think it would be a nice investment.
Stills has great speed (4.38 40 yard dash) and would be a guy who can take the top off of opposing defenses. White is seemingly going out of favor in Atlanta, with other younger wide receivers stepping up.
Lockette, Royal, and Roberts would be decent acquisitions, but nothing too exciting. However, the Ravens could probably get them for cheap.
The trade rumor mill will be interesting to follow, as it is likely more names will become linked to the Ravens.
