Ravens nose tackle Terrence Cody was placed on the physically unable to perform list prior to the start of training camp, the team announced.
Cody has been recovering from offseason hip surgery, which is why he's on the list.
For Cody's sake, he'll need to get some reps in to prove he belongs on this uear's 53-man roster. More than likely, Cody will not stay on the PUP list through the duration of training camp and will get some time in practice and preseason games.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Cody is improving in his health, however.
"Yes, he's coming along," he told reporters. "He's doing a good job. He's just not 100 percent ready to go yet, but [he is] working hard and very serious about what he's doing. [I am] real happy with him. He's very determined. He thinks with that hip being healthy that he's going to be able to show what he can do for the first time in his career. I'm hoping he's right. I'd like to see his best."
Cody was signed to a one-year deal this offseason, which gives the Ravens depth along the defensive line. This can be considered a make-or-break season for him.
