While Muir isn't officially a part of the team or the final roster, adding him through mini-camp likely means that the Ravens would like to jettison another player in favor of someone else, likely at a reduced salary. Looking through the roster, the likely candidates for replacement are Terrence Cody and Chris Canty. Canty currently holds a $3.16 million cap hit that the Ravens would like to eliminate while Cody was resigned this past offseason to a base contract of $730,000 but could be easily upgraded with a veteran for a similar cost.

Muir was born in Washington D.C. and played at Parkdale High School in Riverdale. He comes to the Ravens at the age of 30 having played most recently with the Raiders. He saw action in 10 games last year, starting only one. With 17 tackles and 1 sack, he wasn't the most productive player in the world but could assist the Ravens starters in staying fresh by taking occasional reps throughout a game.
