Mike Mayock: Look for Ravens to move down in draft

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock believes the Ravens will try and move down from pick No. 17.

On Wednesday, Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said teams have already called the organization to express interest about moving up into the 17th overall pick.

While nothing's set in stone, trading back could be an ideal situation for the Ravens. The draft is deep and they can still get a coveted player late in the first round while adding a pick elsewhere. NFL Network draft analyst Mike Mayock agrees with this mindset, believing the Ravens will move back if given the chance.

"More often than not, they move down," Mayock said on a conference call.

If the Ravens stay at 17, Mayock said that the Ravens will probably not be able to get Alabama safety Ha Ha Clinton-Dix. He added that Louisville safety Calvin Pryor doesn't appear to be a compliment to Matt Elam, either. With the Ravens picking at 17, Mayock said the Ravens will be hoping to get a player that's No. 11 or 12 on their draft board.

Drafting a tackle could be problematic. Mayock expects a run on tackles early, leaving Alabama's Cyrus Kouandjio as the best option at 17, in his estimation. He mentioned another Alabama player — linebacker C.J. Mosley — as a possibility at the 17th overall pick.
