First my observations:
1- Seems to be very deep at some positions, that you could potentially grab a starter at in the 3rd or maybe even the 4th according to the rankings on walterfootball and fanspeak. I was regularly grabbing Antonio Richardson at the end of the 3rd, and Urban at the end of the 4th. Cornerback also looks pretty deep into the 4th round. That is not to say if a stud like Lewan and Gilbert slid to us in the first, or Moses and Verrett in the 2nd we shouldn't snag them. But to me it does mean it is not worth grabbing Martin at 17. If we could trade down 5-7 spots and still grab him, I would, But if not, it is better to go with a different position that has more value in this draft...
2- Certain positions have a sharp drop-off: Safety and Tight End. After the 3rd round, it does not seem there is much talent at these positions.
3- There is going to be a stud sliding to us in the 2nd. Whether it is Jimmie Ward, Verrett, a WR like Benjamin, Lee, Adams, Matthews, a RT like Moses. We will be getting a 1st round value in the 2nd round.
17 WR MIKE EVANS TEXAS A&M
No brainer. Gilbert was the other option, but I Evans is too good to pass up here.
48 CB JASON VERRETT TCU
Was surprised he was still there. If he is 2 inches taller he goes top 15. Great guy to have as our 3rd CB. Was a hard choice over Amaro and Jordan Matthews, but I felt he was the best value, and I already had gone WR and offense in the 1st round.
79 S DEONE BUCANNON WASHINGTON STATE
Needed a safety, and there was still plenty of talent at OT so I went with the best safety available.
99 OT ANTONIO RICHARDSON TENNESSEE
Slots right in at RT, assuming he can beat out Wagner.
134 DE BRENT URBAN VIRGINIA
Great value, could contribute immediately
138 RB TERRANCE WEST TOWSON
Great running back to add to our backfield.
175 TE A.C. LEONARD TENNESSEE STATE
Project at TE. Missed on the higher level tight ends early, but he has major upside
194 C BRYAN STORK FLORIDA STATE
Too good to pass up. Although we gave up a pick for Zuttah, we are not locked into him long term and therefore we have the ability to bring in a guy who might take his starting spot. Zuttah can also play guard.
