Maryland Gov. Martin O'Malley was put on the spot by a TMZ reporter who asked him what he thought of the Ray Rice situation.
Rice and O'Malley have attended anti-bullying events together and had a good rapport with one another. Instead of brushing the issue aside, the governor and admitted Ravens fan gave a response to the question, with some apparent hesitation throughout.
"I don't know that it has anything to do with being a fan or not being a fan," O'Malley said. "I think you always feel a tremendous amount of disappointment whenever someone finds himself in a situation involving this sort of domestic violence and the public attention to it only makes that pain magnified."
Rice and his fiancee, Janay Palmer, were arrested last week in Atlantic City after allegedly assaulting one another. A separate video was obtained by TMZ showing Rice dragging Palmer out of an elevator.
